Rita Fuchsberg
I am a painter who works from my studio in Poultney, Vermont. I paint in acrylic and often
combine painting with other media. My work is heavily textured and I like to work with gels.
My abstract imagery is often seen as suggestive of cityscapes, landscapes, seascapes,
figurative images and more. On a different note, I have done a body of work one would rightly
call social commentary. Specifically, I have addressed the issue of the Death Penalty. My
painting, entitled Ladies - in - Waiting, is a quilt like combination of portraits of almost all the
women on death row in the United States in 1998. This work has been shown at the
Montserrat Gallery in SoHo, at Gallery Lombardi in Austin, Texas and in Houston at Gallery
M-squared. My work has been shown at the Salmagundi Club, CITYarts, the Cork Gallery in
Lincoln Center, the Hudson Guild in NYC, in Cooperstown, NY and at the Art Association and
Museum in Provincetown, MA., among others. In Vermont, I regularly show at the Chaffee
Center in Rutland. I am a founding member of PAAG, which is the Poultney Area Artist's
Guild. I intend to show other artists work as well as my own at the newly formed Fox Hill
Center for the Arts, LLC., located in East Poultney Vermont, now owned by my sister Irene
Minkoff and myself.
